Glucosamine Sulfate is an amino sugar that occurs naturally in the body. It is thought to be an essential material in the formation and repair of cartilage. Amino sugars, such as Glucosamine, are technically a carbohydrate, but instead of providing energy for the body they are incorporated into the body's tissue structure. Glucosamine's use is not limited to the joints. It plays a part in the construction of tendons, ligaments, bones, skin and heart valves, as well as being important in maintaining the health of the respiratory system, digestive system and urinary tract. As we age, the body loses its ability to manufacture enough Glucosamine to keep up with the ravages of time. Glucosamine is not normally found in the diet, so supplementing with Glucosamine is important, especially as we grow older.

Chondroitin Sulfate is a glycosaminoglycan and is a normal component of many body tissues, including the articular cartilage that serves as a cushion in the joints. Chondroitin is believed to have the ability to block certain enzymes that contribute to the destruction of cartilage tissue. Recent studies indicate that Chondroitin is as effective as aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in the relief of pain due to arthritis without the stomach irritation that often accompanies aspirin intake. Chondroitin is also thought to be essential for cartilage to retain its elasticity by helping it retain necessary moisture. Despite early reluctance on the part of the medical establishment, Chondroitin is now seen as a viable treatment for the symptoms of osteoarthritis.

Recommended Dosage:
